Nepal trek

From Everest Base Camp to the Annapurnas, Nepal’s treks are the finest in the world – find the best Nepal trek for you here

With such a variety of trekking routes in Nepal, it can be hard to know where to go and which will suit you. Wherever you choose, you will fly to Kathmandu and have the chance to explore Thamel’s bustling alleys, you will experience the delights of trekking in the Himalaya, interact with the legendary Nepali people and sample Nepal’s finest dal bhat…and the likelihood is, you’ll be back more than once!

We organise treks to Everest Base Camp on the south side via two different paths, as well as other iconic mountains’ Base Camps such as Ama Dablam. In the Annapurna range, both the Sanctuary and Circuit treks are firm favourites. Find your perfect Nepal trek with our guide to the best the Himalayan kingdom has to offer.

Classic Everest

18 days

Max altitude: 5554m (Kala Pattar)

Perhaps the most famous trek in Nepal, this classic route follows in the footsteps of decades of mountaineers who have woven their way through the Khumbu valley on their quest to climb the world’s highest mountain. The Sherpa villages you will pass include the famous Namche Bazaar, a historic trading hub which to this day remains the staging point for big expeditions further into the mountains. With spectacular ever-changing views as you gain height, you will see some of the Himalayas’ most impressive peaks. Culminating in a climb of Kala Pattar, giving you a unique view up into the Khumbu ice fall and above into the Western Cym of Everest, this trek offers the chance to walk the traditional path and see Base Camp for yourself in just over 2 weeks.

Ultimate Everest

23 days

Max altitude: 5554m (Kala Pattar)

If you have a bit more time to spare, the Ultimate Everest Base Camp trek takes a circular route to the iconic site. Forking off just after Namche Bazaar, we climb up through the quieter Gokyo valley past rhododendrons beside the Dudh Khosi Nadi river, until we reach the sacred turquoise lakes. An acclimatisation hike up Gokyo Ri affords a spectacular view over to Everest and its giant neighbours, before crossing the Cho La pass to join the main Khumbu valley. We offer a unique opportunity to camp near Everest Base Camp on the Ultimate trek, spending one night under the brightest night sky I have ever seen, imagining what it must feel like to be camped here for weeks on a summit expedition. A fantastic way to experience the best of the Khumbu.

Ama Dablam BC

16 days

Max altitude: 4750m (Ama Dablam BC)

The strikingly beautiful peak of Ama Dablam can be seen from much of the Khumbu and stands out for miles, making it a popular ambition for climbers. Aptly named, Ama Dablam means Mother’s Charm Box, formed by the ridges above base camp like mother’s arms, and the hanging serac high on the West Face being the charm or pendant.  This trek to base camp is the shortest we offer in the Everest region, and takes you through the lush vegetation of the Sagarmatha National Park to Thengboche and its monastery. Here you will be greeted by a dramatic panorama of Himalayan peaks including Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam itself, before continuing to base camp to see it up close. This is a superb introduction to trekking in Nepal.

Annapurna Sanct’ry

17 days

Max altitude: 4130m (Annapurna South BC)

The Annapurna Sanctuary trek is a journey that takes you right up to the mighty south face of Annapurna where you will be encircled by some of the biggest mountains in the world. The trek begins in the Annapurna foothills, passing through rice fields, bamboo forests and rhododendrons before hiking up through the stunning Modi Kola valley which forms a gateway to the hidden amphitheatre of the Annapurna Sanctuary. We pass the towering fishtail mountain of Machhapuchhre as we approach and meet the circle of giants including Hiunchuli, Baraha Shikar, Singu Chuli and Tharpu Chuli (Tent Peak).  Only then can the true 8091m summit of Annapurna be seen at the top of the gigantic south face, first climbed in 1970 by Don Whillans and Dougal Haston – truly, a memorable finale!

Annapurna Circuit

23 days

Max altitude: 5416m (Thorong La)

One of Nepal’s finest treks, the Annapurna Circuit combines spectacular mountain scenery, picturesque lowland farms and villages, great culture and a high pass. We trek from Besisahar on the traditional route which meanders through the mysterious Marsyangdi valley with its fertile green terraces and a backdrop of peaks beyond. The hike over the Thorong La boasts magnificent views to Gangapurna and as we descend into the Kali Gandaki valley the old caravan route squeezes its way between the 8000m giants of Annapurna 1 and Dhaulagiri. Skirting the river, the trail passes waterfalls and villages before reaching Tatopani where we can relax in its famous thermal pools. This is a must-do trek which rewards you with spectacular and varied scenery throughout.
