Leader: Chris Harling
Chris and the team are now all back safe at base camp. Tonight will be a night of celebrations for the group and no doubt one of Ang Mu's flaming Chicken Sizzlers.
Summit success for the team. Chris sent a message on the tracker to say that Chris, Phursemba and Steve reached the summit today, and have made their way down to camp 2. More information from summit night when they get back to base camp.
The team are at camp 1. and are moving well. They will now move up through the camps, the weather forecast is currently looking good so we are keeping our fingers crossed for that.
Chris and the team are now back down at base camp after their first successful rotation on the mountain. They stayed at Camp 1 and touched Camp 2 before returning to base camp. They will now rest for a couple of days before heading back up for their summit push.
This morning some time was spent going through some practice and refresher training on the use of fixed ropes. In the afternoon they climbed the initial snow slopes above base camp up to 5270m, giving some fantastic views of their route up towards the summit of Himlung Himal. Tomorrow will be spent packing and preparing for the next stage of the climb.
Following a short exploratory walk to the Phu Monastery yesterday, and a lot of rest, the team have now made it to the base camp. Greeted with an amazing chicken dinner, they are now settling in and looking forward to starting the climb.
After 2 stunning days of trekking, they have arrived at Phu. Following a rest day tomorrow, they will then be walking the last day of the trek into basecamp.
Very scenic jeep ride today up to Koto - chilly on arrival so shorts were swapped for trousers and down jackets! Everyong is looking forward to beginning the trek to Himlung BC tomorrow.
Chris and the team made the long drive to Besisahar, which is actually lower and hotter than Kathmandu. Staying in a nice hotel with en suite bathrooms, a luxury in this region, along with enjoying some Dairy Milk for dessert. Tomorrow they will take a jeep up a rough track to Koto where our trek to basecamp will begin.
The team have all safely arrived in Kathmandu. Following an enjoyable day exploring the sights and sounds that Kathmandu has to offer, they were treated to a cultural experiance and evening meal, including the traditional Yak greeting. They will start their drive into the mountains tomorrow.
The team departs on the 14th of October and are due to arrive in Kathmandu on the 15th
