Aconcagua - Vacas Valley Route - 14 Dec departure

Aconcagua005

14th December. Aconcagua is the second highest mountain of the Seven Summits and we provide the option to tackle it by the Vacas Route for walkers or the Polish Glacier route for climbers. Leader: Dean Beard

4 January 2013: Unfortunately due to extreme conditions the group was not able to summit. Everyone has returned safe and well.

24th December: A quick update from Dean. The team have now completed their first carry up to Camp 1 yesterday and will be staying there tonight then heading up to Camp 2. Team are well and still enjoying the trip!. Dean

20th December: We have now arrived at Base Camp at Plaza Argentina to good weather. The trek from Casa de Preda was tough with strong winds and occasional deep snow as the snow line dropped yesterday. It was very tiring trekking but the team are such a good crowd that they helped each other along and kept spirits up.

When we arrived at Casa de Piedra yesterday we were treated to a great barbeque which also helped us to enjoy the camp! Tomorrow we should be going for a trip up to Camp One but we have some rest days to play with so this can be done around the weather. Dean

17th December: We have arrived at Los Penitentes where the delayed luggage caught us up. Everyone is well and as it’s such a sociable and relaxed group were all getting on really well. We will be starting our Trek later today up the West side of Rio de las Vacas. Despite it being windy we’re all super excited about the trip ahead after our first views of the snowy peaks ahead. Dean

16th December: Team all arrived safe at Mendoza. We have some delayed luggage but expect that to catch us up tomorrow.
