September 10, 2010

As you may have heard we have opened a new venue in town, with an indoor climbing wall, bouldering room, and Café. We have a room dedicated to climbing gear where you will find everything you need for the rack or rock face. Many items of gear can be hired, so you can come along and try out the wall whether you have any previous experience or not.

We have a room dedicated to climbing gear where you will find everything you need for the rack or rock face. The building is 5 storeys high with the climbing wall reaching 10.5m at its highest point. The store will also house the main expeditions logistics centre, from which Adventure Peaks can essentially offer you a complete, design-led outdoor experience. Whether it’s an Introductory Navigation Course in the Lake District that you want, or a full summit expedition to Everest in the Himalaya, you can book it with confidence at Adventure Peaks.

From the comfortable Café Altitude on the second floor, you can watch the climbers struggling up the wall through the glass viewing panels, or gaze out over what we believe to be the finest view in Ambleside. Windows look out over the northern and western aspects affording fantastic views and stunning panoramas across the fells, including Todd Crag and Loughrigg in the west, reaching right across to the Fairfield Horseshoe in the north.

Ambleside Climbing Wall and Café Altitude are open 7 days a week – 9am to 10pm (last orders for meals – 9pm)
