Highlights from the winter wonderland of Rila and Rhodope mountains, where we enjoyed a stunning snowy week of exploring the slopes and forests.

Our longest day involved an ascent to the summit of Malyovitsa [2729m].  Malyovitsa is one of the iconic peaks of Rila Mountain and this was the most technical part of the week. The scenery was just amazing – some incredible views of pointed alpine peaks, rock walls and glacial cirques. The following day we followed a forest trail to the famous Seven Rila Lakes, leading right from the front door of our hotel.
