Summit success!

We had 100% success this morning with the whole team reaching a cold and breezy but clear summit on Mount Elbrus.  Hendrik and Christian started walking from the barrels with their guide Demitri at 12am with the rest of the team following later by snowcat with Oleg, Vladimir and Becci.  We all met at 5000m and continued together to the summit.  Everyone put in a brilliant effort and I’m so proud of the whole team for making it up there!  We are all back down at the barrels now having a well deserved lunch and rest.  We will go down to the valley tomorrow to celebrate and enjoy the last bit of the trip.

19th August

The team have returned from a couple of days acclimatising at Lake Syltrankel.  We were forecast awful weather but despite a brief but fierce storm we have had lovely sunshine and great views.  All of the team are doing great and enjoyed the mini expedition.  We are now resting in Cheget and looking forward to the next phase. Weather for Elbrus looks positive for the next few days and we plan to go up to the barrels tomorrow.
