6th August – SUCCESS Despite high winds, driving snow and extreme cold all the team reached the summit of Mt Elbrus yesterday. They are now back in the valley having a well earned rest.
3rd August – The team are now at the Prijut 11 hut, having climbed both acclimatisation peaks and rested in the valley. They will have an acclimatisation walk up to the Rocks of Pastukov tomorrow and then aim to make there summit bid on Tuesday at 3am. The weather has not been brilliant with wind and cloud, but fingers crossed they’ll get a break in the weather.
31st July – Chris texted the office today to say they had climbed the first acclimatisation peak. The team are all doing well and are looking forward to their next challenge
29th July – The team have arrived in the Baksan valley and have had there first acclimatisation walk.
23rd July – The team will be departing the UK on the 26th July
Chris Mothersdale has been climbing in the UK, Europe and across the world over a number of decades. He started rock climbing in Yorkshire on Gritstone before taking on larger objectives both in the UK and abroad. Rock climbing progressed to Ice Climbing in Scotland before climbing in the Greater Ranges in Europe, Africa, South and North America and Asia. Mountaineering has enabled him to climb on every continent and to explore many of the the wonders of the world.
