26th august: Jason and Malcolm summited the highest mountain in Europe at 09:34 Russian time, this morning (Sunday). It was a long, hard day but good conditions and strong hearts prevailed.

25th august: Acclimatisation climb to 4,600m complete and we are now loading up with food. Summit attempt starts at midnight UK time, 3am Russian… Watch this space!

24th august: We are back in the valley now but alas no rest day! The stunning weather window is only open for another 48hrs so we’re heading to The Barrels early and will attempt Elbrus soon after. Wish us luck.

23rd august: Ascent of Kumrychi today in stunning weather. Back now at high camp for last night before heading back to the valley for a rest day. All still well…

22nd august: We are both sat at high camp with our Guide looking at a white river of cloud below us and a beautiful pink sunset, and Elbrus beckoning us in the distance. A just reward for a hard slog to get here! We are well and looking forward to a high acclimatisation peak tomorrow.

21st august: Second acclimatisation walk over, taking in around 1,400m of ascent to Mount Cheget-Karabashi. Weather was beautiful and we had outstanding views of Elbrus and what is to come! Everyone is well and looking forward to moving to high camp tomorrow.

20th august: Great to get out in the mountains today. Climbed up to the observatory in the Azau Valley altitude of around 3,100m representing around 1,100m of ascent. Rain, then light snow, then rain means we’re a little damp but happy and well all the same. Drying now and then food!

19th august: The team have arrived in Mineralyne Vody okay and are on route to the Baksan Valley. The adventures have begun with Malcolm spending 90mins trying to change the language on the hotel computer and Jason failing to heed the advice of Dave Pritt and staying away from vodka drinking locals! Everyone is well and excited to get on the mountains.

18th august: Malcolm and Jason arrived Moscow okay and all luggage accounted for! Off to hotel for a bite to eat and rest before early internal flight. Unfortunately Neil has not joined us so we are a small but very focused team of 2 ?

17th August: The team will be flying out on the 18th August. Good luck to everyone and enjoy the trip.
