3rd July
Back at our hotel after four days on Mount Elbrus, culminating in a successful ascent of Europe’s highest mountain for the whole team! Acclimatisation went well but a poor forecast for Saturday forced us into a day around the barrels practising ice axe arrests and other essential skills before a summit attempt on Sunday. We left the barrels at 3am. The views from the summit were spectacular with a fantastic temperature inversion. The whole team are quite rightly very proud and enjoying some creature comforts back in the valley!

29th June
Just back this morning from acclimatisation trip to Syltrankel Lake. Successful summit of Mukal yesterday (3.5 hours from camp to top, 6 hours round trip). Impressive thunder and lightening show last night with very heavy rain! All of the team are doing well and looking forward to heading up to the barrels tomorrow morning.

27th June
Here is a photo of the team just before we set off toward Syltrankel Lake! Weather is lovely this morning but forecast is for some rain this afternoon and possibly even some thunder!

26th June
The team all arrived safely at the hotel in Baksan Valley along with all our gear. Briefing planned for this evening and up to Syltrankel Lake tomorrow.
