Full trip details of Everest North Col, Lhakpa Ri and Naya Kanga Leader
4th May: The team were panning on moving up to tackle the North Col on the 7th and Lhakpa Ri on the 8th but were joining up with the Everest team. See further updates here.
1st May: We have made a successful journey through Nepal and into Tibet and arrived at base camp a few days ago. All well here at BC. The sun is shining and the team are having a rest day after getting to the black rocks at 6000m yesterday. We plan to move up to ABC in the next few days.
21st April: Liam phoned us today to let us know that the group made a successful ascent of Yala Peak at 5500m – Congratulations to the team!
Tomorrow everyone is looking forwards to a well earned rest day, and some time spent organising their kit, catching up on their washing etc, before the next stage of their journey.
18th April: Liam called today with an update from the group – the satellite reception has not been very good for a few days which is why he has not been in touch. The team are now in the Langtang Valley at Kyanjing Gompa and have already ascended Tsergo Ri at 4984m for acclimatisation.
They have had a look at the beautiful Naya Kanga and there has been a huge amount of snow fall on the mountain. A number of other expedition groups recently have been unable to summit due to the conditions, so our team has decided to take the sensible option of climbing a different peak in the area, Yala Peak at 5500m. New permits have been arranged and they will move to Base Camp tomorrow, aiming to Summit the day after. The team are all enjoying themselves and are glad that the schedule is flexible enough to allow for this new objective.
At the moment the weather is excellent with blue skies and the temperature is 20 degrees even though they are at 3764m! As we spoke, Liam was watching 2 huge birds which could have been Lammergeiers, so they certainly are enjoying some good scenery and wildlife! We will update you when we hear more.
12th April: The team will depart the UK today and make their way to Kathmandu ready for the start of their trip.
