Mount Vinson

Mount Vinson

From £42,000
Altitude 4,892m Grade: 3C

A stunning mountain in an extreme environment.

Please note, the final payment is based on making a total equivalent payment of $52,500 (this would equate to £42,000 with an exchnge rate of 1.25) on an exchange rate prevailing at the time of making your final payment.

Located in the coldest, most windswept continent on earth. The elegant symmetrical pyramids of the Ellsworth Mountains give rise to the complex high-glacial massif of Vinson itself.

Antarctica is a land of dreams; a pristine environment of epic proportions and extremities. For half of the year, when there is 24 hours of daylight, the snow really does shine whiter than white.

From its peak you will be awestruck by the clarity of the views to the nearby peaks of Mount Shinn and Mount Gardner, and far beyond the South Pole. The route taken is a low technical climb, but we are in a potentially extreme environment that will offer a real physical and mental challenge. It is advisable to book at least 6-9 months in advance.

Our Mount Vinson trip starts and finishes in Punta Arenas. Dates shown below are the advertised dates you fly to and from Antarctica, however you will need to arrive in Punta Arenas at least 3 nights prior to your departure to Antarctica. Return International flights should be booked at least four days after your return from Antarctica to allow for possible delays in flying back from Antarctica. If doing a Vinson & Ski Last degree you would already be on Antarctica when other Ski Last Degree only clients arrive.

Insurance

It is essential for a trip of this type that you are adequately insured. When researching insurance options, please ensure the policy covers you for the following:

  • Cancellation or curtailment
  • Helicopter rescue (most insurance companies will no longer cover for ‘search and rescue’ but providing you stay with the group, they will assist with ‘rescue’)
  • Repatriation
  • The altitude that you are expected to attain
  • The location especially when travelling to Antarctica
  • Grade of trek/climb/expedition
  • Medical cover

Adventure Peaks partners with Global Rescue to offer the world’s leading travel protection services. Medical and security emergencies happen. When they do, we rely on Global Rescue to provide our clients with medical, security, travel risk and crisis response services. Without a membership, an emergency evacuation could cost over $100,000. More than one million members trust Global Rescue to get them home safely when the unexpected happens. We highly recommend our clients enroll with Global Rescue, in particular for peaks over 7000m:
