12th August

Today we had the chance to visit Machu Picchu and discover more about this incredible site. Perched on the hill it is surrounded by Andean peaks and the construction of the terraces, temples and buildings is quite remarkable. We will head back to Cusco by train this afternoon.

11th August

What a way to end our trek, after 42km and 3 overnight camps on the Inca Trail, we finally reached the Sun Gate where we had amazing views down to Machu Picchu.

8th August

Hi from Ollyantaytambo, we will start the Inca trail today and should reach Machu Picchu on Friday. Yesterday we took a short trek across the Andean plateau and explored several Inca sites between Cusco and here, including Moray archaeological site and Maras salt pans.

6th August

We’ve all arrived safely in Cusco and have had a guided tour of the grand cathedral and Qoriancha temple, our first insight into the Incas before we start our trek on Monday. This afternoon we’ve had the chance to wander around the Plaza de Armas and take in the sights.
