Saturday – Today Nick and I went up to Ben Nevis to cover some winter skills including crampon and axe use, moving safely around the hills in winter, what to do in the event of a slip and avalanche avoidance. We enjoyed some great full winter conditions, with lots of windblown fresh snow over the old snow which is firming up nicely.
Gordon, Davy and David did Moonlight Gully, reporting lots of fresh snow and some good climbing.
Sunday – Today Nick needed a shorter day so as not to miss his flight home, so we climbed the Zig Zags on Gearr Aonach, covering basic rope work and some abseiling on the descent. There was snow down to the footpath, which was melting as the freezing level rose during the day. David and Clive were also on the Zig Zags today, but continued to the top and came down the path from Stob Coire Nan Lochan.
