15th October
Summit success!
The team set off for the summit attempt from high camp at 2 oclock this morning in perfect conditions, with all clients reaching the top between 6:30-7am this morning. The team then descended and took rests at high camp and base camp before arriving safely back at Chukhung at 3:00pm, exhausted but elated!
12th October
“Hard day today as we moved from Dingbouche at 4,415m to Chukhung at 4,775m with a climb up to Chukhung Ri at 5,555m. Rewarded with stunning views all round. The team are all well and in high spirits.”
11th October
From Steve:
“Today we took a short walk from Dingbouche at 4,415m to 5,070m to aid acclimatisation.”
10th October
from Steve
Moved up to Dingbouche at 4,415m today and got first views of our objective, Island Peak 6,196m. It looks so small as it’s surrounded by much much higher mountains! We’ve two nights here to further acclimatise before we move higher.
9th October
From Steve:
Woke up this morning to a blue sky sunny day. We strolled from Namche to Debuche, stopping at Tengboche monastery for a blessing, with views of Everest and the surrounding mountains through the day.
8th October
After yesterday’s walk in the wet and dark we had a good dinner and a good sleep. We awoke this morning to sunshine! After breakfast we trekked to Namche, stopping for lunch on the way. During lunch there was a short rain shower but the sun returned as we finished lunch. Arrived at Namche with all the team in good spirits.
6th October
After a bit of a delay at the airport the team arrived in Lukla. Good news as I’d been reading about delays for other teams heading in to the Khumbu Valley. They have now trekked to Phakding and are relaxing and having lunch.
5th October 2018
The team have arrived in Kathmandu and are set to fly to Lukla tomorrow (fingers crossed).
