Kilimanjaro expedition - Rongai route 2013

12th September 2013 (0700am): Great news just in from our own David Balshaw by text from the summit this morning. The whole group have successfully climbed Kilimanjaro, half reaching the crater rim at Gilman’s Point, and half reaching Uhuru Peak. Magnificent achievement  – well done to everyone. They will now be descending to the nice thick air at Horombo Camp tonight, then back to Moshi for a shower and no doubt a celebratory beer (or five!)

9th September 2013: We are now at Second Camp. All of the group are in good spirits and last night we enjoyed a fantastic night scene with beautiful stars above the cloud. Our cook is doing an ace job with lots of good food every day. The altitude is increasing but so far we have all had very minimal headaches.

8th September 2013: The group have now starting out on our second day trekking. Spirits are high, good food and laughs a plenty.

6th September 2013: Just a quick email to say that everyone is here and with the exception to Maxine’s bag all the luggage made it to! It should be with us tomorrow hopefully! Every one is now having a well earned shower and chill by the pool
