Nearing the top of Scafell Pike on the rocky path across Broad Crag.

Leader: Ian Oldham
Course: Lakes 3000s Challenge

This last week-end’s Lakes 3000ers Challenge was a two day event with 5 participants who all completed all 4 peaks successfully led by Ian Oldham. Day One was Scafell Pike and Scafell and the weather was clear enough for us to enjoy views across the whole of the Lake District. Day Two was much wetter and waterproofs were needed most of the way up Skiddaw and Helvellyn, but even though the views were very limited and limbs were stiff from the previous day, we stayed well motivated and made it up and down both mountains in about 4 hours each.

On the descent to Mickledore between Scafell Pike and Scafell. “No we don’t go straight up there, that’s rock climbing. We find an easier route round via Foxes Tarn”
