Our next dates for the 3 Peaks are 25th July 2015
Our stalwart 3-peakers, Ben, Anthony, Tom and their guide Paul were successful in reaching the top of Ben Nevis, Scafell and Snowdon within 24 hours last weekend.

They ‘cruised’ up and down ‘the Ben’ in 5 hours, being lucky to enjoy nice calm weather and daylight for the ascent and the descent. The top was slightly misty and there is still a significant amount of snow still in the gullies and on the summit plateau. (I heard that the Glencoe ski resort even had some summer solstice skiing this year!)

As we headed south through the night to Wasdale (a five and a half hour drive) the weather closed in and unfortunately the Scafell climb took longer than planned as they were hammered continually by rain and strong winds. The came back to the car after 4.5 hours, and relished the warm bacon butties and hot chocolate that were ready for them.

The rain stopped once we left the Lake District, and the weather improved as we headed to Snowdonia. Despite being windy and misty on top everyone remained dry and got up and down the mountain in 4.5 hours – slower than planned but tired legs and Anthony’s sore knee dictated the pace.

Beers were cracked open back at Pen y Pass car park, certificates issued and after dropping Tom and Anthony in Bangor, we headed home after another tiring but rewarding and satisfying Three Peaks Challenge.
