This morning Carla and James reached the summit.
Pablo messaged today to say that the team made their first carry to Camp 1 yesterday. Today they have their medical check at base camp. Looking ahead the weather is looking better for the 2nd January, so they are planning an extra day at base camp and then another rest day at Camp 2. The team wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
The team have arrived into base camp at Plaza Argentina at 4198. Today will be a rest day to help aid the acclimatisation process.
The team have arrived at Casa de Piedra it was a windy day but they have had an excellent hike. They have now had their breakfast and are ready to move up to base camp.
The team arrived at Pampa de Lena after and excellent hike. They are now looking forward to Argentinian steak and a nice Malbec! Feeling good!
Having sorted their permits in Mendoza and made their way up to Puente del Inca, the team have just started their 3 day trek to base camp. They will stop at Pampa de Lenas and Casa de Piedra in the Vacas valley, from there they will then head into the Relinchos valley to Plaza Argentias, the base camp on the Vacas side of Aconcagua, at 4200m.
The team depart on the 16th of December.
The team is Still at Camp 2. Today they went for a hike to the crashed Heli at 5750m. The Weather has been windy recently. Tomorrow they plan to stay there again and are still planning to go on the 2nd January 2024.
Pablo is a climbing and ski guide, living and working in Argentina. He works on our Aconcagua expeditions, but has also led expeditions for Adventure Peaks to Pastore Peak in Pakistan, as well as Annapurna IV & Island Peak.
