Fantastic News! Our 1st Aconcagua Team of the season have reached the summited this morning and are currently on their way back to Camp Colera. Tomorrow they will head to base camp. Congratulations!
Today the team made their first carry up to Camp 1 at 4900m and tomrrow they will move up and start acclimatising to Camp 3 Guanacos at 5450m. Guillermo says the team are strong and moving well.
Guillermo has messaged to say the team arrived at base camp yesterday. Today they will enjoy a rest day before starting their acclimatisation and getting established on the mountain.
After a quick turn around in Mendoza the team have travelled up to Penientes and are now starting their journey to base camp. It will take the team three days to trek to Plaza Argentinas, stopping at Pampa de Lenas and Casa de Piedra on the way. All being well they will have internet access again from base camp and will update us on their progress then.
Stu Peacock is a very experienced high altitude mountaineer who has been to the Summit of Everest, Broad Peak, Cho Oyu, Manaslu and climbed on K2. His other expeditions include: Ama Dablam, Peak Lenin, Aconcagua, Khan Tengri, Tien Shan Unclimbed, Korzhenevskaya, Himlung Himal, Baruntse, Mera & Island Peak, Alpamayo, Bolivian Peaks, Spantik, Carstensz Pyramid, Elbrus, Mt Kenya and Kilimanjaro. He was the first Brit to summit Everest via the North Ridge 3 times and has climbed Everest from both the North & South sides.
