The team have now reached Camp 3 Guanacos at 5450m. They will wait here to pick the best weather day for summiting. Once they have picked their day they will move up to the top camp, Camp Colera.
The team have completed their first load carry up to camp 1. Today they will have a rest day, go and have their checks with the Doctor and prepare their equipment rady for moving up.
The team trekked to Plaza Argentinas, the base camp on the Vacas Valley side of the mountain. They will spend the next few days acclimatising and getting ready for moving up to Camp 1.
The team got their first views of Aconcagua when they arrived into Casa de Piedra this afternoon.
Today the team started their three day trek to Plaza Argentinas base camp. They have now arrived at their first camp on the way in, Pampa de Lenas and are celebrating with a BBQ.
The team and their luggage have arrived. This morning they met their guide “Tutu” and have had a full kit check. They will set off for Penetenties at 2pm local time after lunch. Tomorrow they will begin their trek to base camp.
The team will be departing on Saturday for Argentina. They will make their final preparations and obtain their permits before heading to Penitentes, the start of the trail for Aconcagua base camp.
Stu Peacock is a very experienced high altitude mountaineer who has been to the Summit of Everest, Broad Peak, Cho Oyu, Manaslu and climbed on K2. His other expeditions include: Ama Dablam, Annapurna IV, Peak Lenin, Aconcagua, Khan Tengri, Tien Shan Unclimbed, Korzhenevskaya, Himlung Himal, Baruntse, Mera & Island Peak, Alpamayo, Bolivian Peaks, Spantik, Carstensz Pyramid, Elbrus, MtArarat, Mexican Volcanoes, Mt Kenya and Kilimanjaro. He was the first Brit to summit Everest via the North Ridge 3 times and has climbed Everest from both the North & South sides.
