Mera & Island Peak
We've just had word this morning that the team were successful on Island Peak and are now on their way down to Chhukhung.
Yesterday the team made their way over the Amphulabsa Pass, they reached Chhukung yesterday evening and are resting there today. Tomorrow they will head to Island Peak Base Camp in preparation of making their summit bid.
This morning the team reached the summit fo Mera Peak. Liz and John are now at Khare and Craig and the rest of the staff have descended to Kongma Dingma, as part of their trek to the Amphulabsa pass.
I've had word from our agent in Nepal to say the team moved up to Base Camp yesterday and today the team are moving to High Camp, with a plan to make their summit attempt tomorrow. The weather is still looking good for the 3rd, so we wish the team well.
The team had an acclimatisation day at Khare yesterday and are now making their plans for their summit bid on Mera Peak. The weather is looking good from the 3rd May.
Today, the team will fly out and arrive into Kathmandu tomorrow. They will make their final checks, before making the early morning drive to Ramechap for the Lukla flight on Monday.
Stu Peacock is a very experienced high altitude mountaineer who has been to the Summit of Everest, Broad Peak, Cho Oyu, Manaslu and climbed on K2. His other expeditions include: Ama Dablam, Peak Lenin, Aconcagua, Khan Tengri, Tien Shan Unclimbed, Korzhenevskaya, Himlung Himal, Baruntse, Mera & Island Peak, Alpamayo, Bolivian Peaks, Spantik, Carstensz Pyramid, Elbrus, Mt Kenya and Kilimanjaro. He was the first Brit to summit Everest via the North Ridge 3 times and has climbed Everest from both the North & South sides.
