Congratualtions to the team on reaching the summit of Ojos del Salado on the 17th January. It took around 9 hours from the drop off point to the summit. On Thursday they returned to Bahia Inglesa and yesterday flew to Santiago, for a bit of time before their international flight.
On the 13th Jan, the team made a succesful ascent of Cerro San Francisco and yesterday had a rest day at Laguna Verde. Today the team have moved over to Atacama and are currently engaging in a acclimatisation walk above high camp on Ojos del Salado.
Today the team will move camps to Laguna Verde, where they will make an ascent of their first 6000m peak Cerro San Francisco.
Yesterday the team successfully climbed the 5090m high Cerro Pastillitos and returned back to Laguna Santa Rosa for the night.
Yesterday the team reached the summit of their first peak Siete Hermanas Peak at 4950m from here there are great views back down to the laguna and camp.
The team depart the UK today for Santiago and then onward to Copiapo.
Stu Peacock is a very experienced high altitude mountaineer who has been to the Summit of Everest, Broad Peak, Cho Oyu, Manaslu and climbed on K2. His other expeditions include: Ama Dablam, Peak Lenin, Aconcagua, Khan Tengri, Tien Shan Unclimbed, Korzhenevskaya, Himlung Himal, Baruntse, Mera & Island Peak, Alpamayo, Bolivian Peaks, Spantik, Carstensz Pyramid, Elbrus, Mt Kenya and Kilimanjaro. He was the first Brit to summit Everest via the North Ridge 3 times and has climbed Everest from both the North & South sides.
