Like everyone else, the Adventure Peaks team are itching to plan our next adventures, whether it’s overseas or closer to home. As we get a bit more clarity on what will be possible this Spring and Summer, it’s exciting to look forward to getting out in the mountains again! The Lake District offers some of the finest mountain scenery in the country, with wonderful views at every turn, and that’s just the start.
Here are our top 3 reasons to visit the Lake District this year.
If you’re training for an international expedition or trek, the Lake District is the perfect place to prepare. With England’s highest mountains, the landscape is wild and remote, rough yet beautiful. You can walk for several days taking in different peaks, valleys, lakes and passes, and choose whether you camp or stay in a hotel depending on how realistic you want to make it!
Our Lake District Expedition offers you the chance to wild camp in the Lakes and experience multiday hiking along with camp craft skills. We will camp in the most beautiful remote locations (valley and wild), watch sunrise and sunset from up high, sleep near high mountain tarns and perhaps take the occasional wild swim. Find out more here.
Alternatively if you’d rather come back to the comforts of a hotel each night, A Lake District Mountain Journey will take you over the best of the Lakes scenery over multiple days, without the camping. Find out more here.
Both the Lake District Expedition and Lake District Mountain Journey can be organised at different levels to suit your training, be it a Kilimanjaro trek, Mera Peak or Aconcagua expedition or a tough 7000-8000m+ peak expedition.
We are all ready for a break, a change of pace and a change of scene after the past few months. Where better to recharge and relax than the Lake District and some of the country’s most beautiful scenery.
Our Lake District Mountain Walks and Summits offers the opportunity to walk a collection of the area’s finest peaks with expert local guides over 3 or 5 days. Each day we will take in a variety of classic mountain journeys alongside a few hidden gems. The hiking can be tailored to suit a relaxed schedule or a more demanding itinerary. We will stay in a luxurious 4-star hotel in the dramatic Borrowdale valley. Find out more here.
This Spring and Summer is the perfect time to try something different or improve existing skills, simply for fun and the satisfaction in doing so, or perhaps with an expedition in mind. With the UK’s first recorded rock climb and a well-founded tradition of rock climbing in the Lake District, it’s no coincidence that the area features some of the country’s best and most varied climbing crags. This makes it a great place to come to learn to rock climb, as there is a wide variety of venues to choose from, from single pitch easy to reach places to longer multi-pitch mountain crags.
If you are a confident mountain walker who enjoys scrambles on exposed terrain, why not try your hand (and feet) at climbing? Our Lake District Scramble and Climb course will enable you to transition from mountain walker to mountain climber. We will combine scrambling with ropes on some classic Lake District ridges and scrambling routes with some of the easier classic multi pitch rock climbing routes. Find out more here.
We also organise Introduction and Improvers rock climbing courses and Mountain Scrambling.
