After breakfast, we started from Zongla at 8:30 AM. this morning and reached Lobuche around 12:00 PM. (noon). After a brief stop, we continued for another 20 minutes to the pyramid (Italy Research Centre) at 5001m for spending a night there. In total, we covered roughly 7 km in about 4 hours.
Today was the biggest and toughest challenge of the entire trek. Despite the difficulty, our team really enjoyed it. The weather wasn’t great since morning. There was light snowfall, which made the journey even more magical.
We started from Dragnak early at 5:30 AM and reached Zongla (4837m) in 7.5 hours. Though the day was tough, we maintained a slow and steady pace and arrived in Zongla by 1 PM earlier than expected!
We reached Dragnak earlier today after trekking roughly 4km in 2.5 hrs across Moraine Rocky trail. The weather this morning was spectacular. The light snow from last night created stunning views of the fresh white landscape.
Yesterday, we trekked from Machhermo to Gokyo, covering a distance of 6 km in nearly 5 hours. Today, we had a rest day in Gokyo (4,700 m), but we decided to hike up Gokyo Ri early in the morning since the weather is usually clear at that time. The round trip from Gokyo to Gokyo Ri (5,360 m) took us nearly for 4 hours.
Tomorrow will be a short day—we’ll trek from Gokyo to Dragnag, where we’ll rest before the big push to Cho La Pass.
On Saturday, we started our hike at around 7:30 AM from Phorche Thanga. Early on, the trail took us through a serene path lined with rhododendron and pine trees. The gentle uphill climb led us to Dole, where we paused for a few minutes to enjoy some tea. A bit farther, in Luza, we stopped for lunch before finally reaching Machhermo by around 2:00 PM.
In total, the trek took roughly 6 hours, covering a distance of 12 km, with a gain of elevation roughly 800m.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t in our favour, hazy and misty - but we still had a really good day.
On Sunday, we had an acclimatisation day in Machhermo (4,470m) today, and this morning, we hiked up to 4,600m.
We started our trek from Namche at 7:30 AM and reached Phortse Tenga (3680m) after about six hours, including lunch at Mongla Dada (3980m). It was a really fun trek today.
Today was our rest day in Namche Bazaar. We hiked up to Everest View Hotel, then continued to Khumjung Village via the same route. Along the way, we visited SPCC (Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee) to observe how they collect, manage, and recycle waste. In Khumjung, we explored Hillary School and the local museum. Unfortunately, the haze shrouded the mountain views, but the day we had excellent acclimatization.
The team managed to depart early today, starting their trek at 7:30am. It took them around 6 hours, workign their way up the valley and crossing the dramtic Hillary Bridge, to reach the picturesque mountain town Namche Bazar. Namche is the beating heart of the Khumbu valley with a mix of traditional Sherpa culture and modern trekking amenities.
Despite the weather delay yesterday, the team arrived into Lukla today at midday and have now trekked to Phakding.
I’ve been working as a guide for four years. I started pretty young! Even though I’m still early in my career, I’ve already done the Three High Passes trek (Renjo La, Cho La, and Kongma La) and the Everest Base Camp trek multiple times. My favourite place to visit is Gokyo Lakes.
