Winter Mountaineering in Morocco - January '16

Our team of 5 clients and 2 instructors met up in Marrakesh on Saturday 23rd January, and headed up into the High Atlas. This season the snow is quite thin over the Toubkal range, with many slopes that are normally under deep cover by now. However our team will make the most of the ice falls and snow they do find.

26 January 2016
While the team headed up Toubkal, Rob went up Tizi Ouraine, the col below Ras in search of snow. With enough snow to practice some skills on tomorrow. There are also some icefalls near the refuge which can be used to practice technical ice climbing.

28th January
Our team went up to Col below Ras to do snow skills today. We’re all in good spirits enjoying Cold temperatures and views with high cloud. We return to Marrakech tomorrow.
